Australian Fast Bowler Aaron Summers All Set To Represent Southern Punjab In Pakistan’s Domestic One Day Cup

Aaron Summers, 24 years old Australian fast bowler is all set to make history – becoming the first overseas player to participate in Pakistan’s domestic cricket tournament. Summers will represent Southern Punjab in domestic one-day cricket tournament which is starting from January 8, 2021. The pacer is enthusiastic to experience some quality cricket while playing in Pakistan, he is all set to challenge young Pakistani batsmen. “Pakistan is a breeding ground for the fast bowlers and I look forward to developing my skills as a quality fast bowler,” said summers in a video while announcing his participation in the Pakistan domestic season. “Pakistan is the place where I can hone my skills and improve as a cricketer,” said the pacer.

Pakistan’s revamped domestic cricket structures allow international players to participate in the tournament. The teams can invite international players by getting permission from the board. The updated domestic structure aims to ensure competition. The new system has six teams for all three formats i.e. Tests, ODIs and T20s. The new domestic structure of Pakistan cricket has been developed as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Initially, Aaron Summers will arrive in Lahore and get training from Azhar Mahmood in PCB’s high-performance camp. Afterwards, the fast bowler will join southern Punjab camp in Karachi. A couple of years back, Aaron summers have represented Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League, however, he could not leave a good impression with his performance. However, Summers has developed some good skills with the ball. He has represented Hobart Hurricanes in Big League.   

Director high-performance camp Nadeem khan has said that “The news of Aaron Summers featuring in the Pakistan Cup is a validation of the quality of our domestic events”. He further added that “I am optimistic that the participation of summer will attract some more international cricketers”.
