Journalist Shahab-ud-Din Claims to Expose Indian Funded Anchors. Is It Part of Hybrid Warfare?

India has been attempting to destabilize Pakistan using a number of unconventional tactics (called Hybrid Warfare) i.e., funding terrorist organizations and spreading disinformation to name the few. These endeavors have been exposed many times in the past, for instance, former US Senator Chuck Hegel said in 2013 “India has over the years financed problems for Pakistan through Afghanistan”. December 2020 EU’s Disinfo lab report also stands as testimony to the fact that Pakistan is targeted through disinformation and fabricated reports produced by paid journalists. Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din a young Pakistan Journalist released a video where he claims to expose the Journalist serving their interests.

The video of controversial Pakistan Journalist Hamid Mir appears relevant in this regard where he tries to malign Pakistan agencies without proof for torturing journalist Asad Toor. Meanwhile, young Pakistani Journalist Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din claims to provide irrefutable proof of Pakistani Journalists’ engagements with the Indian disinformation network opens a new pandora box.

Makhdoom Shahab-Ud-Din has released a video in which he provided proof that female Journalist Asma Shirazi is working on someone else’s interests. He claimed that the website Freedom Network Pakistan (fnpk.org) is apparently a Pakistani website but actually operated from India. Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din said that journalist Asma Shirazi is a member of the website and she has been sharing content with aim to spread disinformation about Pakistan.

In his short video, he also displayed screen shoots of angled and tailored news launched from the platform of the said website. He shared news of a journalist Wasim Aalam who was killed by his father but at the fnpk.org it was reported that “some unidentified persons killed the journalist” supposedly to accuse Pakistan Agencies.

Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din says that this leak is the first episode of the story and afterward names of more journalists will be exposed”. Soon after the release of the video, Shahab Leaks started trending on Twitter. Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din said that after the leaks, he received threats of life and legal proceedings also his social media accounts are targeted.
